Job Responsibilities

Objective: To assemble intricate gating systems in a diverse and non-repetitive manner to create mold forms for investment.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Preparation

Goal: To evaluate patterns and determine assembly techniques.

Typical Tasks:

  1. Conduct pre-inspections of patterns and gating components before assembly begins.
  2. Interpret and adhere to detailed assembly instructions, which outline various unique steps of a complex nature; strategize methods for completing assignments and select from alternative assembly techniques.

B. Assembly

Goal: To accurately construct complex gating systems.

Typical Tasks:

  1. Assemble intricate gating systems using a torch, hot pencils, and various hand tools.
  2. Secure gates in position using a torch or hot pencil.
  3. Refine and measure the area around each assembly contact using hot pencil, torch, or paint seal.
  4. Adjust gates by reshaping, splicing, or building up to achieve the correct fit.
  5. Fabricate basic gating from raw materials as needed.
  6. Possibly create code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations from standard assemblies.
  7. Inspect assemblies during and after the assembly process to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met.

C. Safety

Goal: To uphold and demonstrate safe working practices.

Typical Tasks:

  1. Comply with plant and departmental safety regulations.
  2. Safely operate all tools and equipment.
  3. Identify and report safety concerns.

Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in pattern gating assembly techniques, methods, materials, and construction.
  2. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  3. Able to work within a team environment and foster team development.
  4. Capable of reading and following complex written instructions.
  5. Able to lift and maneuver objects weighing between thirty to fifty pounds.
  6. Willing to work in environments that may involve exposure to noise, fumes, and various physical challenges.
