POSITION TITLE: Convenience Store Associate

DEPARTMENT: Retail Operations

REPORTS TO: Store Manager/Assistant Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Convenience Store Associate is to operate the cash register with efficiency and courtesy, adhering to company standards and protocols.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Accurately scan customer purchases and ensure proper identification of items that do not register.

2) Employ effective scanning and bagging techniques to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

3) Adhere to company procedures regarding cash handling and documentation.

4) Support various store functions beyond the cash register, including but not limited to:
  1. a) Restocking cigarette displays.
  2. b) Replenishing items in the cooler such as dairy products and beverages.
  3. c) Organizing the produce section.
  4. d) Assisting with ice bagging as required.
  5. e) Managing waste disposal inside and outside the store.
  6. f) Ensuring cleanliness around the fuel pumps, including washing and maintaining supplies.
  7. g) Conducting temperature checks at designated intervals.
5) Maintain a pristine store appearance, which includes:
  1. a) Cleaning all cooler, freezer, and entrance doors as needed.
  2. b) Sanitizing restrooms and mopping floors throughout the store.
  3. c) Organizing and fronting merchandise in aisles, coolers, and freezers.
  4. d) Keeping the exterior tidy, including payphones, walkways, and trash receptacles.
6) Possess comprehensive knowledge of company policies regarding video rentals.

7) Understand and comply with company regulations related to in-store lottery sales.

8) Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.

9) Follow all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Provide assistance in other departments, such as the deli, as required.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1) Manual dexterity is essential for effective scanning and bagging of products.

2) Strong communication skills are necessary to ensure excellent customer service.

3) Basic mathematical skills are required for accurate cash handling.

4) Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently throughout the shift.
