Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Triage Specialist to join our team at Highmark Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing remote nursing triage to patients across various populations, including infants, the elderly, and those with behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, prioritize patient needs, and refer to the appropriate level of care to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence-based guidelines, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to analyze patient information and make informed decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Document patient encounters and decisions in a concise and accurate manner, utilizing patient-centered language.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements to maintain expertise in nursing triage and patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current State of PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • 3+ years of experience in a medical-surgical, primary care, pediatric, ED, case management, or clinical environment.
  • Skilled at navigating EMR systems, preferably EPIC, and proficient in MS Word and computer usage.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Certification in nursing specialty.
  • Telephone triage experience.
  • Expertise in crisis intervention, teaching/coaching, disease management, and diagnostic monitoring.
