Job Title: Production Team Leader

La Terra Fina is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Team Leader to oversee the daily operations of our production facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assure that products meet or exceed Food Safety and Quality specifications at every Departmental process step
  • Monitor prep room, Fill and Packaging processes to assure compliance with all standards and specifications
  • Promote good quality practices, align to and facilitate training on all quality-related SOPs and GMPs and HACCP
  • Promote a safety work culture by reinforcing all safety policies and practices
  • Assure LTF safety program guidelines are met or exceeded. Facilitate and execute Safety trainings and partner with HR Representative in the utilization of Alchemy training tools
  • Actively participate in the Plant Safety program audits, inspections and JSA's
  • Communicate as appropriate to assure Operational Effectiveness
  • Review schedule to coordinate staffing, equipment readiness, materials, and timing to assure schedule is executed to meet customer demand
  • Responsible for proper staffing levels and crew management to assure standards are achieved or exceeded
  • Leverage Redzone to assure OEE standards are met or exceeded and facilitate investigation of root causes in order to recommend solutions for problems in the Continuous Improvement process
  • Expertise in Redzone whereby knowledge is used to assure all Leads and Operators are trained to utilize Redzone to its fullest capabilities. Execute daily huddles
  • Assure that finished goods, raw/packing material, WIP are properly handled and labeled. Assure the Inventory control processes are followed and information accurate
  • Ensure relevant communication occurs between shifts, operational teams and cross-functional teams
  • Assure incoming team members are trained in techniques, processes, policies, etc. Engage in all relevant training, understand that the Lead acts as a key provider of insight and knowledge regarding operational knowledge, Safety and Food Safety knowledge, GMPs, and Quality standards
  • Encourage development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to optimize efficiency
  • Maintain work areas aligned with lean (5-S) principles
  • Embrace lean principles and training and apply these principles to work environment and team management
  • Participate in all 5-S events to communicate cultural alignment from top-down to 5-S and lean activities
Requirements:
  • High school or GED is required
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a food production facility is required
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience is required
  • A commensurate amount of education and experience may substitute
  • Ability to work independently while applying safety, GMP and quality principles
  • Must understand HR policies and procedures and ensure the team acts in adherence to these
  • Must have the ability to develop in-depth technical and mechanical knowledge of machinery, equipment and line operations
  • Critical thinking skills are needed, as daily challenges in operational efficiency and production scheduling occur - must have excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and make adjustments that drive efficiency
  • Must be comfortable with computers to effectively capture relevant data, critical operational notes, etc. in systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, to provide instruction and direction, to explain how things work, the importance of procedures and to create cultural alignment
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is required
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, be reliable and proactive
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties
  • Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility is critical
  • Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant
  • Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present
  • The noise level is high and constant
  • Floors are damp and slick
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 35lbs. to stand for long periods of time
  • Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, analyze reports, manage data and detail
