Head of Operations

We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead our manufacturing operations and drive commercial growth. Our startup has developed a multi-platform peripheral vascular occlusion system supported by multiple patents and FDA clearances. With a primary focus on scaling commercially in the U.S. in 2025, we are looking for a strong leader to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a history of leading ramp-up activities with medical device disposables or catheters, implementing cost improvements and efficiencies, and presenting to the Board of Directors. They will be responsible for establishing quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards for evaluating efficiency and effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing policies and procedures to improve day-to-day operations.

The Head of Operations will also be responsible for communicating and explaining new directives, policies, or procedures to managers, participating in the hiring and training of departmental managers, and performing timely performance evaluations. They will be largely self-directed, capable of meeting corporate goals with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement metrics for evaluating efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers
  • Participate in hiring and training of departmental managers
  • Perform timely performance evaluations

Requirements:

  • BS degree in a related field
  • 15 years of related medical device operations experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong leadership, presentation, and managerial skills
  • Thorough understanding of raw materials acquisition and supply contracts, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of medical device development and manufacturing
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MRP
