CT Technologist

As a CT Technologist at Nuvance Health, you will be responsible for producing high-quality computed tomography images of designated anatomic areas for patients of all ages. You will work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of diagnostic services.
Responsibilities- Perform CT scans and procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and policies.
- Verify patient identification and correlate exam requests with physician orders prior to beginning any procedure.
- Follow radiology department policies regarding pregnancy status and explain procedures to patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Position patients, adjust and operate equipment, and perform all patient procedures in a timely and professional manner.
- Notify waiting patients of unanticipated delays and provide status updates.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and physiology to maximize diagnostic information for radiologists.
- Practice proper entries and records on the Radiology Information System.
- Operate CT scanners safely and correctly for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, and documentation of images.
- Perform quality control measures to ensure optimal quality images.
- Compare patient prior images/reports prior to imaging current study.
- Perform critique of every exam for completeness and correct labeling prior to completion in PACS and prior to releasing the patient.
- Review all non-routine studies prior to releasing patients to avoid unnecessary call backs to the department.
- Perform IV cannulation using aseptic technique and i-Stat testing in accordance with lab and radiology policies.
- Solve job-related problems and make necessary adjustments or notify the department manager immediately of any equipment issues.
- Ensure all paperwork pertaining to the procedure is correct and has been properly scanned into the computer.
- Practice accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
- Interact and communicate with physicians, support staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate departmental operations.
- Perform daily cleaning and inspection of equipment and properly stock assigned rooms prior to the start of the shift.
- Protocol exams for the next day and flag any contraindications.
- Practice safety measures in CT and the Environment of Care by recognizing potential safety hazards and responding appropriately.
- Apply the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
- Maintain all certifications, including contrast injection if applicable, and current competencies for all job-related duties.
- Enhance educational growth and display professional interest.
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
- Recommended minimum of 1-2 years previous CT scan experience.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and New York State License in Radiologic Technology.
