Position Overview:

The role involves the safe and efficient operation of a tanker truck. The driver is accountable for loading and unloading the water tank, as well as transporting water from designated locations to treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for loading and unloading at various sites.
  • Transport water to treatment facilities while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Attach and detach hoses for loading and unloading processes multiple times daily.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Employ prescribed techniques to minimize mechanical failures.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations during operations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, both inside and out.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of truck components and maintenance requirements.
  • Capability to operate various vehicles and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical skills for operational tasks.
  • Ability to complete reports and documentation accurately.
  • Comprehension of company policies and procedures.
  • Common sense reasoning for following instructions and solving problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in maneuvering trailers safely.
  • Knowledge of air brake systems.
  • Capacity to drive vehicles with a maximum weight of 80,000 lbs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Tanker endorsement required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a CDL program.
  • Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the truck and equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for safe vehicle operation.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to work in loud environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
  • Work primarily outdoors.
  • Regularly operate in traffic conditions.
  • Occasional work in elevated or precarious locations.
