Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Water Tanker Driver to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a Water Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a tanker truck to transport water from the landfill to the treatment facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a 4,000-gallon water tanker truck to transport water from the landfill to the treatment facility.
  • Responsible for filling/emptying the water tank and operating diesel water pumps at the landfill.
  • Transport water over the road to the nearby water treatment facility.
  • Attach hoses to the tank, fill the tank with water, transport the water to the treatment facility, and reattach hoses to empty the tank at the facility.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck report, and other documentation requested by the supervisor daily.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to the mechanic and supervisor immediately.
  • Operate the truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning the cab interior and exterior of the vehicle.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Must have a tanker endorsement.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions (depending on the season), moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work in an outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.
  • Works a route away from the branch location on a continuous basis throughout the day.
  • Occasionally work in high precarious places.
  • Work in motor vehicle traffic conditions constantly.
  • Work environment is usually loud.
