Radiologic Technologist

The Asct organization is seeking a dedicated Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to execute a comprehensive range of diagnostic radiography examinations under the supervision of a qualified physician. Candidates who are in the process of fulfilling educational or certification/licensure prerequisites may be considered and provisionally selected, but final hiring will be contingent upon meeting all specified requirements.
Essential Qualifications:- Citizenship: Only U.S. citizens may be appointed unless there are no qualified citizens available for recruitment as per policy.
- Certification: All candidates must possess certification in general radiologic technology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). For roles involving computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) performed independently, advanced ARRT certification is mandatory.
- Educational Background: Completion of a full-time training program lasting at least 24 months (or equivalent) in a post-secondary diagnostic radiologic technology program, validated by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or other recognized accrediting bodies.
- Credentialing Requirements: Compliance with Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, necessitates that individuals administering radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards outlined in 42 CFR Part 75.
- Physical Standards: Refer to VA Directive and Handbook 5019 for details.
- Proficiency in English: Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists must demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English as required by relevant statutes.
- Diagnostic Radiologic Technician GS-5: No additional experience or education beyond the basic requirements.
- Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-6: Minimum of one year of experience at the next lower grade level or successful completion of one full academic year of graduate education in radiography or a closely related field.
- Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-7: At least one year of experience at the next lower grade level demonstrating the required clinical competencies, or completion of one full academic year of graduate education.
- Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-8: A minimum of one year of experience at the next lower grade level demonstrating the necessary clinical competencies.
- Interprets and processes exam requests from Radiologists or medical officers.
- Establishes patient trust and cooperation throughout procedures.
- Operates Direct Radiography (DR) equipment, as well as Portable, Fluoroscopic, and O.R. equipment.
- Maintains inventory and performs minor repairs on equipment.
- Handles picture archival responsibilities and ensures accurate patient data and images are uploaded to the picture archive system (PACS).
Tuesday to Friday from 12:00 am to 8:00 am, with alternating weekends from 12:00 am to 8:00 am.
