As a Field Survey Technician at Jones & DeMille Engineering, you will leverage your expertise to effectively carry out survey operations in various environments.
Position Type: Full-time
Organizational Relationships:
• Collaborate and communicate efficiently with Team Leaders, Project Managers, and Practice Group Leaders.
Key Responsibilities: In your capacity as a Field Survey Technician, you will contribute to our expanding team by executing the following tasks:
Technical Duties
• Assist in conducting boundary, topographic, construction stakeouts, ALTA, right-of-way, and various other surveys.
• Accurately document notes, records, and sketches.
• Operate and maintain all necessary instruments and measuring devices for diverse survey assignments.
• Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
Project & Client Engagement
• Uphold our commitment to exceptional client management and professional service delivery, alongside technical proficiency.
• Aid the Project Manager in reaching out to property owners for permissions to conduct work on private land.
• Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager, proactively addressing any significant challenges or obstacles encountered during projects.
• Foster existing client relationships through personalized communication and consistent service, ensuring integrity in all interactions.
• Act as a facilitator for communication, collaboration, and team cohesion among Survey Team Members, reflecting our firm’s dedication to both team members and clients.
Additional Responsibilities
• Maintain awareness of your surroundings and adhere to all company, OSHA, federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Qualifications & Certifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and analytical with a solid grasp of mathematical principles, including algebra and geometry.
• Trustworthy, self-driven, team-oriented, and capable of working independently when necessary.
• Demonstrate a personal commitment to professional growth.
• Energetic and adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced environment and tackle challenges.
• Confident and forward-thinking.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize effectively.
• Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Supplemental Information:
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
Preferred Experience:
• 2+ years of experience working on a Survey Crew.
• Proficiency with survey equipment.
Physical Requirements:
The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds, which may be required on a recurring basis and/or for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel by vehicle to various project sites is necessary. The team member will work in diverse weather conditions and may need to walk extensively, stand for long periods, and utilize various hand tools as required. The ability to navigate different terrains and manage noisy work environments, including traffic and heavy machinery, is essential. Special safety precautions and equipment usage are mandatory.
The team member may also be required to work during evenings or alternate hours and travel overnight for projects as needed.
