Para Educator

We are seeking a skilled Para Educator to provide instructional support to students with disabilities in a general education classroom setting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a certified teacher to implement lesson plans and support the inclusion of students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Implement instructional procedures and record student performance data in general education classes and community settings
- Facilitate social interactions and foster positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers
- Utilize positive strategies to manage student behaviors and provide emotional support and guidance
- Assist with daily personal necessities, such as eating, toileting, and personal hygiene
- Perform CPR and First Aid as required
- Perform clerical duties as needed
- Attend meetings and participate in inservice training as assigned
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Demonstrates tolerant, accepting attitude toward all students and communicates respectfully and effectively with students and other staff members
- Demonstrates willingness to carry out teacher-designed instructional procedures
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing assistance needed for students to be successful members of general education classrooms
- Ability to learn systematic instructional procedures and record keeping systems
- Good English skills
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively with parents, faculty, staff, students, and community members with a variety of ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and form valid conclusions
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to develop and maintain rapport with students, staff, and school officials
- Ability to maintain an above average attendance record
- Ability to work in a one-to-one close relationship with inclusion students working in the classroom and attending to some personal student needs
- Possession of a valid CPR and First Aid certificate
