- Develop a deep understanding of mental health conditions, treatment options, and recovery strategies through specialized training and ongoing support.
- Work collaboratively with the Helpline team to ensure seamless support for help seekers, leveraging your analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to assess needs and find suitable resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and coaching to enhance your skills and knowledge, ensuring you remain up-to-date on the latest mental health information and resources.
- Contribute to a supportive and inclusive team environment, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and open-mindedness.
- A student or professional of mental health, or someone with lived experience of a mental health condition or caring for a loved one.
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey a respectful and empathetic tone.
- Basic knowledge of mental health conditions, treatments, recovery, and mental health care systems, with a willingness to learn more.
- Ability to conduct basic internet research quickly while managing multiple communication channels.
- Verbal bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly welcomed.
- A comprehensive onboarding process, including 14.5 hours of training, to ensure you feel confident and prepared to support help seekers.
- Ongoing support and coaching, including mid-day Zoom meetings and direct messaging on Slack, to help you navigate challenging situations and provide the best possible support.
- A supportive team environment, with opportunities to learn from and collaborate with experienced professionals.
- The satisfaction of making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.
We require a minimum commitment of one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum duration of six months. All shifts are during regular Helpline hours: 10am - 10pm, Eastern Standard Time.
