About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Mental Health Information Specialists. As a key member of our Helpline team, you will provide critical support to individuals and families affected by mental health conditions, connecting them with essential resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries from help seekers via phone, web chat, and text, providing empathetic support and connecting them with relevant resources and services.
  • Develop a deep understanding of mental health conditions, treatment options, and recovery strategies through specialized training and ongoing support.
  • Work collaboratively with the Helpline team to ensure seamless support for help seekers, leveraging your analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to assess needs and find suitable resources.
  • Participate in ongoing training and coaching to enhance your skills and knowledge, ensuring you remain up-to-date on the latest mental health information and resources.
  • Contribute to a supportive and inclusive team environment, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and open-mindedness.
Requirements
  • A student or professional of mental health, or someone with lived experience of a mental health condition or caring for a loved one.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey a respectful and empathetic tone.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health conditions, treatments, recovery, and mental health care systems, with a willingness to learn more.
  • Ability to conduct basic internet research quickly while managing multiple communication channels.
  • Verbal bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly welcomed.

Commitment

We require a minimum commitment of one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum duration of six months. All shifts are during regular Helpline hours: 10am - 10pm, Eastern Standard Time.
