Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technician II plays a vital role in supporting Research Associates and Scientists in a collaborative environment. This position is responsible for maintaining the laboratory, including supplies and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient working space.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, including coordination with vendors and facilities teams.
Developing routine maintenance schedules and coordinating with staff for timely maintenance.
Managing maintenance contracts with vendors and submitting through the Contract Management System.
Maintaining supply availability and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
Preparing solutions and buffers as needed.
Managing waste and waste disposal for laboratory equipment.

Organizational Relationships:

The Laboratory Technician II will interact primarily with the Purification Development laboratory staff in Bothell in a technical support role.
May have limited interactions with other groups sharing the Bothell lab space.

Requirements:

1-3 years of experience in a related position or as a Laboratory Technician II.
High School diploma, minimum; Associates or Bachelors Degree desirable and 1+ years of experience.
Understanding of basic biochemistry principles, such as buffer and solution preparation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform basic tasks in a laboratory environment.
May have exposure to hazardous materials such as concentrated acids and bases.

Technical Skills:

Buffer Preparation Skills (Chemical Knowledge, pH Measurement, Solution Preparation, Sterilization Techniques, Buffer Capacity Testing)
Core Bio Chem Laboratory Skills (Spectrophotometry, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, Microscopy, Cleaning AKTA equipment, Lab Notebook Maintenance, Lab Safety Protocols, Regulatory Compliance)
Organizational/Training Skills (Lean Six Sigma)
