Job Title:
Engineering Support Specialist for Laboratory Operations

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Support Specialist to join our team at Penn State University. As an Engineering Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring the smooth execution of research activities, and collaborating with engineers and researchers to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the fabrication and testing of hardware in the laboratory
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to plan, design, and assemble new test equipment
• Perform inspections of test articles and document results
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning test equipment and install new instrumentation
• Assist with the procurement and restocking of laboratory supplies
• Support the fabrication of complex multiple material components
• Train students and staff on proper operation of laboratory equipment
• Execute and document operating procedures on existing and new hardware

Requirements:
• Associate's Degree in a technical program or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years of related work experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer programs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with engineering drawings and operation of various shop and hand tools
• Working knowledge of electrical assembly and operation of advanced equipment
• Prior experience in process development, design of experiments, and materials processing

Work Location:
University Park, PA
