Materials Engineer II

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials & Processes Engineer II to join our team at Relativity Space. As a key member of our Materials & Processes team, you will be responsible for the development, characterization, and inspection of materials across our Terran R launch vehicle.
You will specialize in rapid implementation of material systems through robust internal testing capabilities and first principles driven qualification approaches. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying qualification criteria, test envelopes, and characterization campaigns.
As a Materials & Processes Engineer II, you will also be responsible for authoring, implementing, and maintaining M&P requirements, technical specifications, and engineering work standards. You will develop, control, and improve special processes, drive statistically-driven experimental design and process control initiatives, and interface with various teams to ensure seamless collaboration.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in materials science or engineering, or a related field, and 2+ years of experience relevant to the competencies listed below. You should have a strong foundation of materials science and engineering principles, a commitment to accountability, collaboration, and execution, and a desire to establish and foster strong interdisciplinary relationships across the company.
A thorough understanding of aluminums, Ni-based superalloys, stainless steels, titaniums, and refractories is highly desirable. Familiarity with key M&P engineering disciplines, such as fracture mechanics, corrosion control, fluid compatibility, descriptive & inferential statistics, and failure analysis, is also a plus.
