The Pharmacist 2 provides pharmaceutical care to patients in a clinical setting, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and customer service. This role involves compounding and dispensing medications, consulting with healthcare professionals, and monitoring patient reactions and errors.
Key Responsibilities- Ensures patient pharmaceutical care meets safety, effectiveness, and customer service standards
- Compounds or admixes ingredients appropriately, including IV admixtures and small and large volume solutions
- Consults and educates patients and caregivers concerning medications and alternative sources of drug therapy
- Reviews medications for accuracy, appropriateness, and interactions, and adjusts medications per approved protocols
- Dispenses medications and compounds in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory guidelines
- Assesses prescribers' medication orders with respect to patient therapy, evaluating known allergies, rational therapy, and drug interactions
- Supervises and monitors the non-professional duties of Pharmacy Technicians, including the organization of daily duties in dispensing, IVs, and patient care functions
- Monitors and reviews the work of Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures
- Expert understanding of Pharmacy Care modalities, pharmaceutical calculations, therapies, terminology, drug use, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to research, analyze, and disseminate information
- Ability to understand, optimize, and document complex processes
- Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements
- General computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
- Experience: 3 years of experience as a Pharmacist (RPH)
