About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ. As a key member of our Naval Powers (NP) System Safety team, you will be responsible for leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses
  • Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience
  • Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
  • Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
