Job Title: Data Management Specialist

The Maine Workers' Compensation Board is seeking a highly skilled Data Management Specialist to fill a critical role in our organization. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal part in assisting with data management, creating and analyzing reports, and overseeing information received through the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage profiles and electronic filings received by EDI trading partners using the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) standard.
  • Gather and organize data from insurance carriers, claim administrators, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), and WCB staff to resolve EDI submission issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute management reports.
  • Develop reports and analyze data to ensure compliance with WCB electronic data interchange (EDI) laws and rules, and to ensure proper system functioning.
  • Manage software and hardware needs for staff.
  • Develop and provide training for WCB applications and standard software to WCB staff.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Provide technical assistance to WCB staff.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of information management systems.
  • Knowledge of technical computer terms.
  • Knowledge of data collection and interpretation methods and techniques.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze data to draw valid conclusions/recommend improvements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both oral and written).
  • Advanced data analytical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to, vertical lookup function and pivot tables.
