The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of designated facilities, ensuring the protection of personnel, visitors, and property.
This role involves performing essential law enforcement functions to uphold compliance with local and state regulations pertaining to public safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides security services within specified facilities.
Ensures that all entrances, windows, and exits are secured at the end of the operational day, preventing unauthorized access.
Monitors the flow of visitors and staff.Conducts thorough inspections of packages, bags, and personal items.
Surveys buildings, courtrooms, and surrounding areas for signs of theft, fire hazards, and safety concerns, as well as any unusual or suspicious behavior.
Takes necessary actions to protect individuals and property from potential threats or damage.
Offers assistance, guidance, and information to the public both in person and via telephone.
Escorts individuals, including visitors and detainees, to designated locations as needed.
Investigates security incidents and suspicious activities, reporting findings through the appropriate channels.
Completes and submits all required documentation.
Engages in general law enforcement activities.
Communicates and collaborates with various stakeholders, including supervisors, colleagues, legal professionals, detainees, court officials, victims, medical personnel, and other governmental agencies.
Non-Additional Responsibilities:
Participates in meetings, training sessions, and fitness programs.
Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
A high school diploma is required, along with completion of necessary training at the relevant Criminal Justice Academy and Class III certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary skills and knowledge.
Must achieve Class III certification within one year of employment.
Maintains proficiency in the use of firearms and evasive driving techniques.
A valid state driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this position.
While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for various tasks, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate verbally; and perceive sounds.
Must be capable of reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, moving, and lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds regularly.Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
