Position Summary:

As a Vocational Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring vital signs, reporting any adverse reactions to medications or treatments, and administering prescribed injections. You will assess symptoms and provide crisis intervention along with medication education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer injections, provide medication support, conduct diagnostic reviews, and offer crisis intervention and targeted case management services to assist clients with their essential needs and symptom management.
  • Conduct health and wellness screenings, assessments, and provide wellness coaching and education.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation as required by contracts and meet minimum billable requirements for direct client services.
  • Dispense and manage prescribed medications, assist psychiatrists in administering and evaluating treatments, and coordinate lab work as per established protocols.
  • Deliver field-based services as necessary based on program and client needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client care.
  • Participate in scheduled program meetings and attend relevant committees.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide education on medications and potential side effects.
  • Act appropriately in medical emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse certification in California is required.
  • A valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance are mandatory.
  • Experience in providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services is preferred.
  • Cultural competency and bilingual skills are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, the following physical demands are necessary:

  • Ability to see, hear, and speak clearly
  • Capable of stooping, bending, and moving around the facility
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items
  • Proficient in using hands and fingers for various tasks
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
