Job Description

Job Title: Instructional Aide - Youth Mentorship Specialist

Job Summary:

The AQT Instructional Liaison will professionally guide cohorts who have been charged with a crime or are otherwise demonstrating pre-delinquent behaviors. This role involves assisting cohorts with gaining employment and modeling on-the-job work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess each cohort situation and needs based on willingness to return to their communities and gain skillful employment/trade.
  • Identify various resources and methods to help cohorts avoid committing more crimes and provide opportunities to assist them in becoming responsible citizens.
  • Coordinate crisis intervention, educational services, and youth mentoring.
  • Act as liaison with cohorts regarding employment and/or vocational training.
  • Set guidelines for the behavior and actions of cohorts and recommend removal from the program when those expectations are not met.
  • Evaluate behavior during classroom interactions and make related recommendations to the AQT Admin team.
  • Educate and inform cohorts on youth programs and services available in the area or their area of release.
  • Maintain current knowledge and list of community resources and services available to assist and rehabilitate juveniles and their families.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in difficult and emotional situations and to inform/educate troubled youth.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of related experience with at-risk adolescents highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
