Job Summary:

Buena Vista University is seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to lead the efforts to recruit and retain students in the Ottumwa region. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Enrollment & Student Success for Online Programs to develop new leads, maintain a recruitment territory, and promote BVU in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and retain students in the Ottumwa region
  • Develop new leads and maintain a recruitment territory
  • Promote BVU in the community through events and outreach
  • Advise and support assigned students from inquiry through graduation

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2 years of experience in student service and higher education desired
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and achieve priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment:

This position will be based in Ottumwa at the BVU office on the Indian Hills Community College campus. Normal office hours are Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. A valid driver's license is required.
