Job Summary: Buena Vista University is seeking an Academic Advisor to lead the efforts to recruit and retain students in the Ottumwa region. The successful candidate will work directly with the Director of Enrollment & Student Success for Online Programs to develop new leads, maintain a recruitment territory, and promote BVU in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and retain students in the Ottumwa region
  • Develop new leads and maintain a recruitment territory
  • Promote BVU in the community
  • Attend events and host classroom visits
  • Build strong relationships with prospective students through extensive outreach
  • Advise and support assigned students from the point of inquiry through graduation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2 years of excellence in student service and higher education desired
  • High degree of professionalism, collaboration, attention to detail, and a desire to provide excellent service to all stakeholders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and achieve priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships

Work Environment: This position will be in Ottumwa at the BVU office on the Indian Hills Community College campus. Normal office hours are Monday-Friday and occasional evenings and weekends as needed. A valid driver's license is required.
