Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Accessibility Coordinator to join our team at Kentucky State University. As a key member of our Student Affairs department, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our university is accessible and inclusive for individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to identify and address accessibility barriers in our curricular and co-curricular environments.
  • Provide expert guidance on Section 504, ADA, and best practices to ensure equal access for students with disabilities.
  • Coach and support students with disabilities to develop self-advocacy skills, effective time management, and learning strategies.
  • Coordinate with departments across campus to facilitate access and accommodation for students with disabilities.
  • Counsel students on academics, career development, disability adjustment, and crisis intervention.
  • Maintain accurate records of accommodations made and communication with and regarding students.
  • Monitor and address access issues in our physical and social environments.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling/Disability Studies, Higher Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Three or more years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, problem-solve, organize workflow, and respond effectively in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
Working Conditions

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
