Adjunct Faculty Position in Behavioral Health Psychology

Carroll University is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor of Behavioral Health Psychology to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 15-week, hybrid graduate-level course in group psychotherapy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver high-quality course content, including didactic materials, formative and summative assessments, and in-person application activities.
- Collaborate with a primary instructor to refine course content and ensure alignment with program goals.
- Utilize the University's learning management system to deliver course content and facilitate online discussions.
- Lead in-person class sessions, approximately eight times per semester, to facilitate group work and application activities.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to promote student learning and engagement.
This course provides a comprehensive survey of theories and techniques using groups as a therapeutic intervention. Students will explore the stages and necessary conditions for effective therapy groups, as well as the underlying variables responsible for behavior change in a group therapy setting.
Course Learning Outcomes- Articulate the basic tenets of different theories of group counseling and psychotherapy, including their similarities and differences.
- Explain the underlying variables responsible for behavior change in a group therapy setting, utilizing empirical data.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify group dynamics and stages relevant to the process and development of effective therapy groups.
- Articulate understanding of effective ways to recruit, screen, and select group therapy participants, as well as the ethical and legal obligations involved.
- Demonstrate effective group facilitation skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to consider ethnicity, culture, and other diversity considerations in group planning, development, and facilitation.
- LPC, LCSW, or PhD in counseling or clinical psychology is required.
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated, relevant subject matter experience is preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with online or hybrid teaching is preferred, particularly experience with the Canvas learning management system.
