Job Description:

Position Summary

The Pascagoula River Audubon Center's Center Operations Manager will provide high-level operational support to a dynamic conservation action center, with strong emphases on reaching diverse community audiences and engaging local residents with environmental solutions to community issues. The Center Operations Manager will be responsible for the facilities, grounds, habitats, and most of all the visitor experience; this includes considering accessibility, storytelling methods, sense of inclusion, cultural diversity, and community financial support as core principles at PRAC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise frontline staff and volunteers, including the Senior Center Assistant.
  • Manage all facility rentals including inquiries, contracts, and partnerships.
  • Maintain the center calendar and uphold transparent communication with all staff about who is responsible for which programs, rentals, and events.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget and track all revenues and expenditures.
  • Manage all facility contracts in compliance with Audubon policy; serve as primary contact for vendors, independent contractors, and building management.
  • Assist with the development of exhibits and interpretive materials to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Work closely with Senior Center Manager and national finance staff to manage facility budget and support monthly close requirements.
  • Manage POS, Ticketure, alarm and phone system information systems, equipment replacement, staff training, etc.
  • Support the Senior Center Manager in coordinating logistics and support preparation for advisory board meetings.
  • Foster positive relationships with schools, businesses, and other community, cultural or government institutions and attend relevant meetings; serve as an ambassador throughout the community.
  • Participate in Audubon's commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) through staff training, hiring initiatives, and adhering to the organization's EDIB principles.
  • Work closely with Senior Center Manager and Director of Strategic Operations with grant reporting calendar and assists with proposal submissions, reports, and funder correspondence as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project and facility management experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience managing and mentoring staff and/or volunteers and fostering a supportive and effective team environment.
  • Experience in a retail setting for minimum 1 year.
  • Working knowledge and experience of center or similar facility management.
  • Knowledge of grounds maintenance and equipment; experience with habitat restoration a plus.
