As an Animal Services Officer III, you will play a critical role in enforcing animal and pest control ordinances, investigating complaints, and providing animal welfare and control services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce animal and pest control ordinances, investigate complaints, and provide animal welfare and control services to the community.
  • Conduct complex or felony-level investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports.
  • Provide education and outreach to the public on animal welfare and control issues, including impoundment, sheltering, and building partnerships with other agencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective and efficient animal control services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve animal welfare and control services, including identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
Requirements
  • Five years of experience working as an animal control officer, including leading team activities, providing animal welfare and control, conducting investigations, and enforcing regulations.
  • Four years of experience performing as an animal control officer, including leading team activities, providing animal welfare and control, conducting investigations, and enforcing regulations, and one year of education in veterinary technology, animal science, biology, criminal justice, or a similar field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
  • Must possess or obtain an advanced Animal Control Officer/Animal Services Certification within one year of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain authorization from the SPAC veterinarian of record to euthanize animals within three months of appointment.
