About the Position

The University of Minnesota's Department of Veterinary Population Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track or contract full-time faculty position in Food Animal Diagnostics. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers and veterinarians, contributing to the department's mission of advancing veterinary medicine through research, teaching, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic pathology support to cases submitted to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
  • Deliver comprehensive diagnostic case information to livestock producers, practicing veterinarians, and other animal health professionals.
  • Develop close relationships with food animal veterinarians and producers, utilizing skills and ongoing training to maintain and improve herd health.
  • Assist with routine disease/health monitoring and in-depth case investigations.
  • Collaborate with practicing veterinarians and stakeholders in animal agriculture.
  • Participate in teaching, research, and service activities, including the development of a collaborative applied research program in areas such as virology, infectious disease epidemiology, diagnosis, pathogenesis, control, and eradication.
Requirements
  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • At least two years of experience in food animal diagnostics.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse groups and excellent communication skills.
  • Board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) is preferred.
  • MS or PhD or equivalent degree in Veterinary Pathology, Disease Diagnostics, Veterinary Microbiology, Virology, Population Animal Health, or related fields is preferred.
