Job Summary

Leidos Gibbs & Cox is seeking a Mid-Level Marine Mechanical Engineer to support the USCG Ship Design Team (CG-459). The successful candidate will contribute to the design and construction of new USCG acquisitions, including small boats, cutters, and icebreakers, directly alongside Coast Guard personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide marine engineering support for both conventional and electric propulsion systems.
  • Review and provide engineering and technical support for shipyard engineering documentation packages.
  • Perform feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and indicative propulsion designs for potential future vessel acquisition programs.
  • Apply propulsion system design principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform calculations.
  • Interface directly with USCG and shipyard personnel.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active secret clearance or eligibility to be granted one.
  • BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from an ABET-accredited institution, related to the field of work.
  • Minimum of 2 years' documented experience relating to the design of marine systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret Security clearance.
  • Familiarity with USCG, ABS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Documented experience relating to the design of marine propulsion systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software.
