Clinical Support Associate

Job Summary:
This role focuses on providing professional and non-professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The Clinical Support Associate will work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and registered nurses to provide basic care services to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides basic care services to patients, including activities of daily living (ADLs) and preparing patient rooms for admission.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients, prioritizing patient care according to nursing direction and discharge plans.
- Transports patients to procedures/discharge within/from the hospital as directed, and cleans and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals or feeds patients as necessary, and performs technical tasks such as using a glucometer and collecting specimens.
- Collects, records, and reports accurate patient data in a timely manner, and provides clerical support as needed.
- Greets visitors in a professional and friendly manner, directs them to the appropriate destination, and answers phones in a professional and friendly manner.
- Screens all persons requesting access to the department for appropriateness of entry, enforces department security policies, and completes administrative duties regarding patient admission, transfer, and discharges in an organized and timely manner.
- Maintains paper components in each patient chart, ensures that patients and family members are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, and responds to their needs in a timely manner.
- Works cohesively as a member of the patient care team, anticipating the needs of team members, and establishes and maintains a positive and caring relationship with each patient, family, and team member.
- Reports variances in accordance with hospital policy, and participates in department meetings and in-service programs on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Certified patient care, clinical associate, certified nursing assistant or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting up to 30-35 lbs and turning patients, prolonged standing and walking, occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation for performing procedures to operate computer keyboard.
- Requires ability to see computer screen and reports.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
- The ability to work as a team member, promoting a caring and collegial attitude toward others.
- The ability to work under stressful conditions, adapting to the changing pace on the unit, frequent interruptions, emergencies, and critically ill patients.
- The ability to recognize patient data relative to age-specific needs and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
- The ability to organize and prioritize work.
