At Tufts University, we are proud to operate the Tufts At Tech Community Veterinary Clinic, a veterinary teaching facility dedicated to delivering exceptional primary and preventive care to pets in need within the Worcester area.

This clinic not only serves the community but also provides invaluable hands-on learning experiences for Tufts' veterinary students and the veterinary technician students from Worcester Technical High School.


Key Responsibilities:


The role of the cross-trained animal care support specialist and receptionist involves delivering high-quality nursing assistance in a collaborative environment while mentoring veterinary assistant students in technical skills and animal handling.

The responsibilities include managing front desk operations as well.

Core Duties:

Patient Care and Technical Assistance:

Utilizing a hands-on teaching approach, you will perform essential veterinary technical support, including monitoring and treatment of medical and surgical cases. This encompasses patient restraint, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, dental care, radiology, and documentation of medical records.

Front Desk Management and Student Guidance:

In a mentor role, you will assist with client-facing tasks such as reception duties, phone triage, client check-in/out, billing, and cash management.

Facility Maintenance and Inventory Management:

Ensure the clinic is well-stocked, clean, and organized through a hands-on approach. Responsibilities include managing inventory and ordering supplies, as well as maintaining clinic equipment such as surgical, anesthesia, radiology, and diagnostic machines.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform other tasks as assigned.

The working schedule for this position is Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
Preferred candidates will have two years of relevant experience.

Eligibility for AVA or licensure.

Proficient computer skills and a solid technical background.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Successful completion of a CORI background check.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to fostering a learning environment.

Strong technical skills, organizational abilities, and capacity to support students and veterinarians.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.

Flexibility is highly valued due to the unpredictable nature of the work.

Ability to work independently while also following directions as necessary.

Willingness to learn clinical laboratory techniques.

Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred) or knowledge of another language is a plus.

A genuine passion for veterinary primary care education and community support.
