Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at the California Department of Education. As an LVN, you will play a critical role in providing specialized healthcare services to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a variety of specialized healthcare services to students, including administering medications, performing routine first aid, and monitoring health conditions.
  • Assist students with feeding, toileting, positioning, and other health-related needs.
  • Operate medical equipment, such as suction machines, catheterization equipment, and feeding tubes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student health care services and procedures.
  • Collaborate with school nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement Student Health Care Plans.
Requirements
  • Valid registration as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of California.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency.
  • Valid California Driver's License and use of own vehicle.
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent travel to schools, buses, and other locations to provide healthcare services to students. The successful candidate must be able to lift and move students as assigned by the position, and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate medical equipment.
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak with/without assistive devices sufficient to communicate effectively with others.
  • Lift and move students as assigned by the position.
  • Frequent bending at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students.
  • Reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally to retrieve supplies.
Environmental Factors

The successful candidate will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and bodily fluids as part of their job duties.
