Position: Cybersecurity Engineer - Information Security System Officer (ISSO)

Role Summary: The Cybersecurity Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and security of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems. This position requires a dedicated professional with expertise in cybersecurity protocols and practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert guidance and oversight on the security measures for DoD information systems.
- Engage in various routine project tasks focused on specialized cybersecurity challenges.
- Support the planning, design, development, testing, and integration of information systems with a focus on cybersecurity.
- Assist in the assessment and authorization processes for DoD information systems.
- Utilize eMASS for documenting security control test outcomes.
- Create and maintain Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts relevant to NIST security control families.
- Collaborate with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to develop the System Security Plan using RMF for DoD IT.
- Conduct STIG reviews and implement necessary remediation measures.
- Integrate electronic methodologies to address comprehensive system and technology challenges related to cybersecurity.
- Work alongside the ISSM to mitigate vulnerabilities identified through security scans.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience.
- Security Clearance: Must possess a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Certification: DoD IAM Level II certification (e.g., CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP, GSLC, CCISO).
- Proficient in Risk Management Framework (RMF) and risk assessments.
- Strong knowledge of the RMF and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes.
- Experience with STIGs and STIG Viewer.
- Ability to review and analyze security configurations.
- Experience in drafting Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) and mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on industry security trends and government regulations.
- Meet the technical requirements relevant to cybersecurity roles and responsibilities.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of obtaining relevant DoD 8570.1M IA professional certification within 90 days if required.
- Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based information systems is advantageous.
