Position: Clinical Support Specialist

REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Support Specialist
• Proven background in Phlebotomy
• Familiarity with prior authorization processes
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR); knowledge of NextGen is highly desirable
• Proficient in measuring vital signs
• Experience in patient triage
• Competence in administering immunizations

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Clinical Support Specialist will be tasked with a variety of essential duties, including but not limited to:
• Ensuring cleanliness and readiness of examination rooms and instruments for patient use
• Conducting vital sign assessments on patients
• Verifying completeness of patient history, including immunization records and medication allergies
• Gathering concise summaries of patient concerns
• Documenting required immunizations
• Reviewing past visit notes to ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assisting physicians with necessary medical procedures
• Making patient and prescription-related calls as required
• Performing sensory screenings as needed
• Completing necessary paperwork for patients, such as school and medication forms
• Contacting hospitals for essential results, including lab and imaging reports
• Liaising with insurance providers to secure authorizations for specific procedures
• Preparing referrals and referral cover sheets for physician approval
• Coordinating home therapy setups for patient use
• Educating patients on various topics, including breathing techniques and newborn care
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment for both patients and staff
• Participating in meetings to stay informed on protocol and procedural updates
• Collaborating effectively with nursing and administrative staff to ensure optimal patient care
• Assisting physicians in emergency situations
• Monitoring expiration dates on sample medications and supplies
• Keeping medications and supplies on emergency carts up to date
• Administering immunizations and medication injections
• Adhering to OSHA and safety regulations for rooms and documentation
• Performing other duties as assigned, including cross-training in various functional areas.
