Job Overview

Position Summary:

The CNC Machining Specialist will play a vital role in providing comprehensive engineering support within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a variety of engineering tasks tailored to a machine shop setting.
  • Develop and adjust CNC programming for diverse production machinery.
  • Conduct setups and validate programs on multiple CNC Mills, Wire EDM Machines, and lathes.
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, CAD files, production planning documents, and technical manuals with proficiency in GD&T.
  • Create or assess machining process plans, ensuring labor hour accuracy and making necessary adjustments to work plans.
  • Review documents and sketches to determine fabrication processes for prototype and production assemblies.
  • Provide support on the manufacturing floor, addressing technical issues promptly.
  • Estimate labor for machining and sheet metal fabrication tasks.
  • Implement and maintain statistical process controls for quality assurance.
  • Conduct manufacturing capability assessments and labor estimates.
  • Assist and mentor Machine Shop personnel in the setup and operation of multi-axis CNC equipment.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field is preferred but not essential.
  • At least 6 years of experience in programming, setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC equipment.
  • Experience with CNC programming using MasterCam and Pro-E (Creo) or equivalent CAD/CAM software.
  • Two years of experience working with quality systems and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining various materials including ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, fiber, and rubber.
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools and the ability to calculate appropriate speeds and feed rates.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with SAP or similar ERP software is advantageous.
  • Experience in generating CNC programs with MasterCam and Pro-E (Creo).
  • Familiarity with data management systems.

Communication Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
  • Capable of conveying technical concerns to various stakeholders, including engineering teams and vendors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to navigate challenging discussions effectively.
