CNC Programmer - Engineering Support

The Vertex Company is seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer - Engineering Support to join our team in Indianapolis. As a key member of our engineering team, you will provide technical support and expertise in CNC programming, machining, and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and modify CNC programs for various production equipment
  • Perform set-ups and prove-out programs on CNC Mills, Wire EDM Machines, and lathes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and production planning documents
  • Create or review machining process plans and labor hour content
  • Support manufacturing floor with timely resolution to technical issues
  • Review and develop machining and sheet metal fabrication labor estimates
  • Maintain and modify statistical process controls
  • Provide manufacturing capability reviews and labor estimates
  • Assist or train Machine Shop personnel with set-ups and operation of multi-axis CNC Equipment
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM preferred but not required
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in CNC programming, setup, and operation of CNC Equipment
  • Previous experience generating CNC programs with MasterCam and Pro-E (Creo)
  • Two years working with quality systems and processes
  • Extensive knowledge of machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials, plastics, fiber, and rubber materials
  • Strong working knowledge of cutting tools and ability to determine/calculate correct speeds and feed rates
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning software
  • Previous experience with data repositories
