Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced nursing educator to join our team as a full-time Assistant Dean of Nursing at Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the streamlined and efficient operation of the nursing program at clinical sites, supporting and advancing clinical education through teaching and mentoring students, and collaborating with clinical partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and advance clinical education through teaching and mentoring students
  • Collaborate with clinical partners to develop and maintain clinical site relationships
  • Evaluate and support faculty in their professional development
  • Provide input on staffing, scheduling, and student inquiries
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clinical partners
  • Coordinate and schedule clinical opportunities
  • Support and evaluate clinical faculty
  • Assist in the evaluation of student progress throughout clinical experiences
  • Monitor and collaborate to support student success
  • Ensure student performance and attendance is completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain evidence of professional growth
  • Attend faculty and committee meetings, pinning, graduation, and other university events as required
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and professional development activities
  • Assist in compilation of statistical data and other information as requested
  • Utilize instructional methods that accommodate various learning styles
  • Identify and remediate behavioral and academic deficiencies
  • Submit suggestions and supportive data for improving curriculum and clinical processes
  • Help to maintain integrity of curricular offerings
  • Develop relevant educational materials and presentations
  • Actively participate in the hiring process of faculty
  • Provide input for the faculty assignments each term
  • Plan and participate in regularly scheduled faculty development meetings
  • Evaluate performance of faculty members as it pertains to their professional development and student engagement
  • Conduct clinical faculty reviews and create an individual annual clinical faculty professional development
  • Provide input for departmental succession planning
  • Successfully represent the University and nursing programs to state and national regulatory and accreditation agencies
Requirements
  • License: Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon (Required)
  • Education: Master's degree in nursing (Required), Doctorate degree preferred
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years nursing clinical experience, and 2-3 years of teaching experience required
  • Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
