Project Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA). As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing expert financial guidance to project managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all financial information related to projects, including monitoring progress, investigating variances, and approving project expenses.
  • Proactively analyze and report on financial project administration, profitability, utilization, budgets, and accruals.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with project managers regarding contract documents, scope changes, contract amendments, approvals, financial status, and additional services related to projects.
  • Generate and interpret financial records and statements for management and project managers.
  • Respond to client requests and interface with clients to investigate project variances, all project expenses not billed to customers, and unpaid contract billings.
  • Create and closeout opportunities and projects in NetSuite and as appropriate.
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
  • Create, review, and/or approve subcontractor invoices related to projects, all project-related billings to customers, and write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers.
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in project accounting or a related field.
  • BS degree in Business or Engineering, is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite and a plus.
