Job Summary

Action For Climate Emergency is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Climate Emergency Field Organizer. This is a part-time, temporary position that will provide participants with a comprehensive opportunity to learn and apply the core principles of field organizing in the context of climate advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in community outreach and engagement activities, including attending special events or campaigns.
  • Training and Development: Attend monthly in-person training sessions, with transportation provided, and utilize a tablet for various field activities and online training.
  • Program Content: Civic engagement, climate education and advocacy, campus organizing and field 101, mobilization and GOTV, data training and digital tools, and other relevant hard skills.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with team members during in-person meetings and virtual engagements, and regularly report on field activities and progress.
Qualifications
  • Strong Interest: In pursuing a career in field-related work, with a focus on climate advocacy.
  • Targeted Campuses: Charlotte and Greensboro, with a strong interest in working with diverse communities.
  • Self-Starter: With strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to cultivate and manage partnerships and internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Oral and written, with bilingual skills a definite plus.
  • Computer Skills: Google Apps, Microsoft Suite, Salesforce, task management platforms such as Monday.com.
  • Comfortable Working: Remotely and as part of a small team, with a minimum of 10 hours per week and at least one Saturday per month for in-person engagements.
Position Details
  • Schedule: 10-20 hours per week.
  • Stipend: $1,000 per month plus travel expenses.
  • Academic Integration: For student fellows, explore the opportunity to earn college credits through this fellowship.
  • Training: Comprehensive training is provided.
  • Equipment: Tablet provided for program use.
  • Location: Based in the communities of Charlotte, Greensboro, and surrounding suburbs.
