Job Description:Overview
The Truck and Crane Specialist will be responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment, including trucks and cranes, to transport goods and materials to and from job sites. The ideal candidate will have a valid Class A commercial driver's license and experience in operating heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations and double-axle service trucks to transport equipment and freight to and from job sites.
- Plan routes to ensure economical use of time and equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Report vehicle accidents, traffic violations, or damage; refer defects or repairs to fleet mechanics; keep trucks and equipment clean.
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crews and checking that vehicles and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, or repair status, following applicable state and local regulations.
- Secure cargo for transport using straps, blocks, chains, binders, or covers.
- Load or unload bundles, equipment, or materials to/from trucks; move bundles, equipment, or materials to storage or work areas using various material handling equipment.
- Place blocks and outriggers by cranes to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
- Bolt boom sections together to extend or modify booms for high lifting.
Requirements:
- Valid Class A, unrestricted (manual transmission) commercial driver's license required.
- Pass PPPO, General Construction Physical, and Drug Screen required.
- Must be 21 or older.
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs to include FMCSA Clearinghouse.
