Job Overview

Position Title: Bench Technician

Entity: Glow Networks, Inc.

Classification: Non-Exempt

Location: On Site

Compensation: $28 - $34 per hour, W2, no benefits

Reports To: Project Manager

Working Hours: Day shift

Position Summary

Glow Networks is in search of a skilled Bench Technician responsible for constructing Test Benches, Test Fixtures, Harnesses, and automation fixtures. The ideal candidate will also maintain and support laboratory infrastructures and devices. This role requires an individual who can operate autonomously while adhering to established customer standards, emphasizing professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehend the customer's testing environment and perform effectively within it.
  • Analyze and interpret schematics to diagnose equipment issues.
  • Execute mechanical repairs on equipment as necessary.
  • Understand the Test farm setup to ensure proper integration of all components.
  • Construct Test Benches in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Utilize Test Fixtures efficiently.
  • Connect Harnesses and automation fixtures.
  • Maintain and support laboratory infrastructures and devices.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field service visits for on-site repairs and maintenance.
  • Employ diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters to identify electrical issues.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs and services performed.
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware.
  • Work with low voltage systems and computer networking equipment.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for access to customer facilities.
  • Read and understand safety and procedural reference materials.
  • Fulfill all technical reading and study requirements.
  • Familiarity with and compliance to standard customer protocols is essential.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Work will be conducted in a facility with moderate background noise.
  • Personal standard tools are required; specialized tools will be provided by the company.
  • Frequent use of hand tools, wire cutters, pliers, screwdrivers, and specialized wiring tools; electronic tablets will be used to track work tasks; some power tools may also be utilized.
  • Adhere to all safety standards regarding low and high voltage electric power.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Test Bench Technician is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Expertise in installation of low-voltage electric and light gauge wiring used for signaling.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, and screwdrivers.
  • Familiarity with entry, safety, and work procedures, including operation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of power, ground, and ancillary equipment.
  • Experience with power tools like battery-operated drills and electric soldering irons.
  • High physical flexibility, including bending, stooping, and laying down, is necessary to perform duties.
  • Knowledge of wiring and troubleshooting processes and procedures is required.
  • Strong English communication skills; ability to convey information clearly to team members with varying levels of English proficiency.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work collaboratively as a team player.
