The Senior Commercial Estimator will be responsible for determining the total cost of a project by validating the project's scope of work and reporting directly to the President of the company. This position is based in the Colorado Springs area and will also oversee and mentor entry-level estimating team members, helping them develop their skills in each stage of preconstruction.

Our client is a Colorado Springs-based General Contractor specializing in commercial construction projects, including Municipal, Office, Retail, and Healthcare builds. They value a collaborative and hardworking culture.

Description

The key responsibilities of the Commercial Construction Senior Estimator include:

  • Managing all documentation to ensure the project is compliant, remains on schedule, and remains within budget while monitoring all costs.
  • Obtaining, assembling, distributing, and filling all as-built drawings, warranties, certificates of occupancy, and lien releases.
  • Scheduling projects in logical steps and budgeting time required to meet deadlines.
  • Building and maintaining relationships critical to the success of the overall project and company.
  • Tracking and analyzing data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual costs.
  • Obtaining and tracking subcontract bids and negotiating budgets.
  • Preparing and presenting estimate documentation, including gaps in available data.
  • Preparing estimates according to the requirements of multiple delivery systems. Reviews quotes and estimates with the project management team.
  • Assisting with certain post-bid buyouts.
  • Initiating and participating in meet and greet presentations with subcontractors and suppliers.

Profile

The successful Commercial Construction Senior Estimator should have:

  • A BS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or Project Management preferred.
  • 6+ years of estimating experience.
  • 8+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Experience with conceptual estimating.
  • Ground-up project knowledge and experience.
  • Good relationships with the local subcontractor markets.
