Role of the Mosquito Control Technician Supervisor

The Mosquito Control Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing mosquito management field operations as part of a comprehensive mosquito control strategy. This role is crucial in ensuring a safer and healthier environment for our clients by addressing complex mosquito-related challenges through expertise and training. Key responsibilities include evaluating mosquito breeding sites, managing traps, and gathering samples for arbovirus research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of designated areas to identify potential mosquito breeding sites and assess the presence of mosquito larvae through visual checks and sampling.
  • Evaluate each inspection location and apply suitable control methods, including: no action, source reduction, biological control, public education, and chemical control (applying larvicides as per label instructions).
  • Document all findings and control measures accurately using designated log sheets and GPS technology.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all relevant chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), ensuring all chemicals are handled and applied according to safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the supervising authority without delay.
  • Follow established safety protocols and spill response procedures, utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Inspect properties upon service requests for the presence of mosquito adults/larvae/breeding sites.
  • Implement appropriate control measures (adulticide/larvicide/habitat manipulation) when mosquitoes are detected, ensuring accurate data recording during inspections.
  • Engage respectfully and knowledgeably with residents during inspections and public relations activities.
  • Understand and operate all necessary equipment safely, including vehicles, ATVs, and pesticide application devices.
  • Refuel vehicles and application equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, promptly reporting any safety hazards.
  • Obtain and maintain all required licenses and certifications as mandated by law and Rentokil North America.
  • Ensure that only authorized personnel are permitted to ride in company vehicles.
  • Support and enforce the company's safety policies and initiatives.
  • Adapt to changes efficiently and perform additional essential tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. using a backpack sprayer.
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain necessary licenses/certifications as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
