Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgery team at Lake Health District. As a Surgical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and education throughout the perioperative process, from pre-op to post-anesthesia recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care and education to surgical patients, ensuring delivery of care that meets AORN standards
  • Function as the Circulating Nurse during surgery and as the Recovery Room Nurse during post-anesthesia recovery
  • Assure surgical patient care is delivered as reflected in AORN standards of Perioperative Nursing Practice
  • May occasionally assist in the Acute/Emergency Departments if work is reassigned by the Chief Nursing Officer or the Surgery/Chemo-Bio therapy Manager
  • Participate in the Surgery and Code/Trauma/Rapid Response call teams, responding to calls within 30 minutes
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current CPR certification, ACL, and NRP, and PALS are mandatory; CNOR certification is encouraged
  • One or more years of clinical nursing experience, with Surgery nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to function calmly and effectively in emergent situations and peak work times
  • Positive and compassionate attitude toward patients and their families
