1. Acquire designated materials for the relevant division, ensuring optimal value for the organization.

2. Develop and maintain vendor relationships that facilitate minimal inventory levels while fulfilling operational requirements.

3. Act as a representative of the purchasing department to management, addressing and resolving procurement-related challenges.

4. Collaborate with fellow buyers within the company, ensuring accurate reporting and information exchange during daily operational reviews.

5. Timely and accurately process all Production Change Notices (PCNs).

6. Participate in weekly production meetings, addressing any action items assigned to the purchasing team.

7. Work alongside Quality Control and the Director of Purchasing to implement corrective actions as necessary.

Relationships:

This role involves external communication with vendors regarding pricing and delivery schedules. Internally, it requires collaboration with all departments within the division concerning parts, equipment, and expenditure matters.

Travel Requirements:

This position may necessitate travel as required by the organization.

Education and Experience:

A four-year degree in Business or a related field is required, along with 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting. A solid understanding of electrical products and components is essential. Knowledge of purchasing theories and negotiation strategies is also necessary. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Understand and adhere to procedures, standard practice instructions, and other written and verbal directives.

2. Prioritize and address daily supply chain issues effectively.

3. Expedite backorders and manage long lead time components to ensure timely delivery.

4. Engage in cost-saving initiatives or submit individual cost-saving proposals that are equal to or exceed annual salary.

5. Review material requirements planning reports (MRP) at least weekly.

6. Assist with special assignments as directed by the Director of Purchasing, with appropriate guidance provided.

7. Adhere to all safety and quality standards, actively participating in continuous improvement teams.

8. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance, working efficiently and willing to work overtime as necessary to support ongoing manufacturing processes.

9. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and foster a positive working environment.

10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

2. Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

3. Proficient analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.
