Job Overview:
The Registered Nurse in Radiology is accountable for comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, evaluation, and coordination of patient care. This role involves conducting patient assessments, providing education to patients and families, and performing triage. The nurse offers essential clinical support to healthcare providers and patients, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. Follow-up on diagnostic tests is crucial to ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the electronic medical record, thereby promoting continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver nursing care related to patient imaging and interventional procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
  • Evaluate patient responses to medications and document findings in the medical record.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is prepared for procedures.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by reviewing medical history and medication lists.
  • Assess patients' physical conditions and their comprehension of the procedures.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding care and procedures.
  • Assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjust care plans based on patient feedback.
  • Deliver Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support as needed.
  • Perform emergency procedures and transport necessary equipment to patients.
  • Initiate and manage oxygen therapy.
  • Assist with patient transport as required.
  • Support therapeutic interventions, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Evaluate laboratory results prior to procedures.
  • Support nursing needs throughout the radiology department.
Work is typically conducted in a clinical setting. The role requires adherence to all job-specific responsibilities and compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The outlined responsibilities are not exhaustive and represent essential elements necessary for successful job performance. Additional competencies and skills specific to departmental orientation will be deemed essential for the role.

Position Details:

Hours: Three-hour shifts, 6:30 am - Mon-Sat coverage

On-Call: None

Major Holidays: None

Experience/Certifications: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required; ACLS preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information: This position involves managing contrast reactions for CT and MRI imaging and serving as a Breast Imaging Navigator for the imaging center. As the role evolves, additional clinical responsibilities in Radiology may be assigned.
