Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role requires direct patient care, patient/family teaching, and leadership of other nursing personnel, while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice, communicating with physicians about changes in patient condition and results of diagnostic studies.
  • Lead and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel, ensuring high-quality care in the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality, adhering to EMTALA regulations and reporting child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
