Key Responsibilities- Preparing engineering designs, drawings, and specifications;
- Preparing cost and quantity estimates for necessary labor, materials, and equipment associated with construction, contractors, suppliers, installation, repair, restoration, and maintenance;
- Providing engineering support to operations staff;
- Reviewing existing conditions and conducting studies of processes by identifying, obtaining, and analyzing samples and data;
- Analyzing and resolving problems to ensure compliance with regulatory and performance standards and specifications;
- Supervising the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations;
- Assigning and reviewing the work of subordinate staff and consultants;
- Determining resources necessary to complete assigned work;
- Reviewing plans, permit applications, and specifications developed by staff, consultants, and contractors;
- Verifying quantities, dimensions, safety requirements, and quality of work for engineering projects;
- Preparing and supervising the preparation of a wide variety of technical engineering reports and other documentation;
- Interviewing, selecting, training, monitoring, evaluating, and counseling staff;
- Preparing a variety of bid documents;
- Reviewing and analyzing bids;
- Conducting meetings and making presentations.
- Three (3) years of verifiable professional engineering experience, of which two (2) years of professional experience equivalent to the City & County of San Francisco Class 5203 Assistant Civil Engineer or higher;
- Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering;
- Substitutions: Candidates licensed in other states who otherwise meet the minimum requirements of this announcement, but do not possess the required California license, may file for this examination, and if successful, will be placed under waiver on the resulting eligible list until the required California license is presented.
