About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team at Heatherwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newport. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure resident rooms are neat, clean, and free from odor.
  • Wet mop floors daily to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Shampoo and extract carpets as per schedule to ensure a clean and fresh atmosphere.
  • Attend to spills immediately to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment.
  • Empty trash liners and clean containers to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Clean bed and rails with disinfectant to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean all countertops, windowsills, bedside tables, furniture, and over-the-bed areas to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Strip, seal, and refinish floors as per schedule to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean floor edges and corners to prevent build-up and maintain a clean environment.
  • Clean windows and mirrors to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Clean personal items, pictures, decorations, flowers, etc. to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.
  • Comply with privacy practices and protect residents' health information.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the managerial team.
Requirements
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • The ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • The ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas.
  • The ability to perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, and safety.
  • The ability to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents based on their maturity level.
  • The ability to seek out and accept new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.
  • The ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.
  • The ability to communicate information effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.
