Job Description / Essential Elements:

Job Title: Secondary Art Teacher - 7-12 Grade

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Secondary Art Teacher to join our team at Turlock Unified School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching art to students in grades 7-12, and will play a key role in shaping the artistic talents of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach art classes to students in grades 7-12, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of our students.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their artistic skills.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive art program.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Credential: General Secondary, Special Secondary/Art, Standard Secondary (issued on a partial fulfillment basis).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with major or minor in art, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Experience: Practice teaching (6 semester hours or 120 clock hours) or two years of full-time teaching experience at least half in art education.
  • Personal Qualities: Appearance, grooming, and personality that establish a desirable example for students. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Single Subject Teaching Credential - Art (Any California credential authorizing teaching in Art in grades 9-12 is acceptable).
